Mr Wang Yilin holds a doctorate degree in Mineral Prospecting and Exploration from China University of Petroleum. He has over 30 years of working experience in China’s oil and gas industry.
Mr Wang became Deputy Director-General and Chief Geologist of Xinjiang Petroleum Administration Bureau in June 1996. He was appointed President of Xinjiang Oilfield Company in September 1999.
In July 2003, he served as Assistant President of CNPC and then became Vice President in December 2003.
He also held concurrent posts as Chief HSE Officer of CNPC and Director of PetroChina Board of Directors in July 2004 and November 2005 respectively.
In April 2011, Mr Wang assumed the role of Chairman of CNOOC. In November 2012, he was elected member of the 18th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China.
Mr Wang Yilin was appointed Chairman of CNPC in April 2015, and he started to hold a concurrent post as Chairman of PetroChina in June 2015.
